Version 1.1 Update

July 28, 2009

Yesterday, we released our first Fluent News update, Version 1.1.  This upgrade contains new features and some important bug fixes.

Bug Fixes

Backups and Syncing
As several of our users pointed out, Fluent News contributed to long backup and sync times.  We’ve fixed the file storage issues that were causing this problem.  If you experienced lengthy backups and syncs and you use our app with some frequency, you will see a dramatic improvement after installing Version 1.1.

Scrolling and Article Loads
We’ve done a lot of work to improve the smoothness of scrolling.  We’ve also done performance tuning on article load times.  The Fluent News experience should feel faster and smoother all around.

New Features

Saved Articles
We added a “Saved Articles” section to give you easy access to articles you want to read later.  To save an article, click on the sharing menu in the upper right hand corner of the navigation bar and select “Save” from the pop up menu.  Access your articles from the “Saved” icon in the tab bar.  Articles are saved until you delete them.

In-App Email
OS 3.0 broke the email functionality that we shipped with Version 1.0.  So in Version 1.1, we utilized the new SDK and built in-app email.  Now, after sharing an article via email, you are returned to the article you were reading – you never leave the app.  Unfortunately, email no longer works for users on earlier versions of the iPhone OS.

We hope that you continue to enjoy using Fluent News.  As always, we welcome your feedback and suggestions at feedback at fluentmobile dot com.
